This traditional curry became extremely popular when Italiaken introduced one of the earliest “lunch service menus” in Niigata during the Taisho era.
The flavor is medium spicy. By upgrading the beef to high-quality cuts, the curry sauce delivers an even deeper and richer taste.
With added spices in the roux, this modern revival of Italiaken’s historic flavor allows you to enjoy the classic Western-style dish: “Rich Beef Curry.”

▼Classic Chicken Curry : $9.9
A signature chicken curry that has been passed down for generations and is known as one of the “oldest curries in Niigata.”
This classic dish features a smooth and rich flavor enhanced with butter and coconut milk.
It uses a traditional curry powder originally produced in 19th-century England (Crosse & Blackwell).
▼Ajiwai Mushroom Curry : $9.9
A flavorful curry packed with three types of mushrooms: maitake, nameko, and tamogi mushrooms.
The carefully selected spice roux blends with the rich mushroom broth and umami, making it perfect not only with white rice but also with saffron rice.
▼Niigata Curry Story (3 Curry Set + Special Curry Spoon) : $55.4
This special set includes three varieties from Italiaken’s retort curry series along with the “Curry Kenjin” curry spoon made by Yamazaki Metal Industry in Tsubame City, Niigata — a region famous for over 100 years of metal craftsmanship.
Nearly 100 years after their first encounter, this collaboration between tradition and craftsmanship brings out the maximum flavor of the curry.
The limited edition package is designed like an encyclopedia and unfolds into an enjoyable reading experience.
