23rd May 2021, it was almost 2 years since Albirex last won at Our Tampines Hub with a 1-2 win over Geylang International.
Facing the same opponent on April Fools' Day, the White Swans emphatically blew away the Eagles 1-6 in a no-nonsense performance to break this away game curse.
As early as in the 8th minute, winger Nicky Melvin Singh won the ball after a tussle with Geylang stand-in left back, Joshua Perreira. He crossed the ball to striker Tadanari Lee who sold a dummy to attacking midfielder Seia Kunori. Kunori returned the ball to Lee who put it into the net to give the White Swans the lead.
However, 8 minutes later, centre back Koki Kawachi made a loose pass which was intercepted by ex-White Swan Takahiro Tezuka. Tezuka released the ball to winger Yushi Yamaya. Yamaya's shot took a deflection off Kawachi and left goalkeeper Hassan Sunny no chance to save it. 1-1, Geylang equalised.
Just as the fans thought both teams were going into the break all square, Kawachi made amends by scrambling in a corner kick in additional time. The White Swans took a 1-2 lead at half time.

Nicky who had a good game and was involved in the 2 goals in the first half, was withdrawn at half time as a precaution due to a slight tightness in his hamstring. His substitute, Shuto Komaki, made an immediate impact as he scored 2 minutes after the restart to extend the lead to 1-3.

No 9, Riku Fukashiro, who was anonymous in the first half, made it 4 in the 55th minute when he twinkle-toed past Geylang centre back and another ex-White Swan, Rio Sakuma, and smashed the ball into the net.

2 minutes later, substitute striker Keito Komatsu, who just came on for Lee, whipped an unstoppable volley into the top right corner. The goal would surely be one of the goal of the season contender by the end of this season.
【#11 Keito Komatsu】
The White Swans were not done with 5 goals and went on to look for the sixth. Kunori, who worked hard whole night, got the goal he deserved in the 74th minute to complete a night of dominance for the White Swans.
The win moved Albirex to 2nd place in the table with 12 points from 5 games. The next game will come fast as the White Swans will visit Bishan Stadium to take on Balestier Khalsa on 5 April. Kickoff is 830pm due to Ramadan.
