【Match Report】4th Consecutive Draws for White Swans - 2022 SPL MD7
The White Swans cannot seem to get a win these days as they could only manage a 3-3 draw with Tampines Rovers this evening at Our Tampines Hub. This is Albirex's 4th consecutive draw as they let slip their lead in their previous 3 matches.
The White Swans raced to a 2 nil as early as in the 13th minute. Striker Kodai Tanaka opened the scoring when he latched on left back Daichi Omori's early cross into the box and rounded Tampines GK, Syazwan Buhari in the 8th minute.
5 minutes later, Tanaka provided the assist as he headed Kan Kobayashi's corner towards Jun Kobayashi, who lashed home the ball.
However, as in the previous 3 matches, the White Swans could not keep their lead. Ex-White Swan Kyoga Nakamura nutmegged Omori in the box, and Omori pulled Kyoga down in the 30th minute. Striker Kopitovic despatched the penalty to the right as GK Koga dived the opposite direction. 3 minutes later, Kopitovic grabbed his second goal as he smashes the ball in Koga's near post to equalise the score.
Disaster was to struck 2 minutes before half time as Koga's loose ball to Kan Kobayashi saw him quickly closed down by 2 Tampines attacker. Tampines midfielder Firdaus Kasman slammed the ball home. Tampines had turned around the game by half time and led 3-2 going into the break.
Head Coach Yoshinaga made one change at half time as he replaced the ineffective Nicky Melvin Singh with dribbler Kanato Fukazawa.
Both sides traded chances and it was the White Swans who got the rub of the green as Tampines keeper dropped Kodai's weak attempt and allowed Tadanari Lee to tap home the equaliser.
As Tampines tire towards the last 20 minutes, the White Swans dominated the proceedings. Veteran striker Fairoz Hasan replaced an exhausted Lee who had run himself to the ground. Fairoz had 2 good chances to give the White Swans the victory, but the ball sailed narrowly wide on both occasions.
The White Swans will be looking forward to a 4-week break after tonight's match to regroup and allow injured players such as Idetsu Masaya and Kunimoto to come back to full match fitness.
The next match will be on 7 May (Saturday) against Tanjong Pagar Utd at Jurong East Stadium. Albirex will be the away team. As the Ramadan period is over, the kick off time will be reverted to 5.30pm.
