【Match Report】White Swans Held By Cheetah in Drab Draw - 2022 SPL MD5
Albirex was held to a 1-1 draw by Hougang Utd tonight at Hougang Stadium.
In a half of few chances, Hougang's foreigner, Kristijan Krajček, ballooned an excellent chance in the 4th minute, while White Swan's left winger, Masahiro Sugita, converted his in the 44th minute to give the White Swans a 1-nil lead going into half time.
Sugita goal was assisted by striker Lee Tadanari who penetrated the left side of Hougang's defence. Lee and Sugita missed the last match against Lion City Sailors due to Covid-19, and worked hard throughout the night to make up for loss time.
However, the 2nd half was more devoid of action until the 77th minute, when Hougang's national team winger, Shawal Anwar attacked the left wing and sent in a sumptuous cross for substitute striker Sahil Suhaimi to tap in.
The goal woke up the White Swans from their slumber and they played with more urgency to regain the lead again.
However, there was not enough time left and Hougang held out for a deserved 1-1 draw.
The White Swans will have 2 matches at Our Tampines Hub next week - Geylang International on Tuesday, 5th April and Tampines Rovers on Saturday, 9th April. Both games will kick off at 8.30pm due to Ramadan.
