【Match Report】White Swans Continue Fine Run - 2022 SPL MD3
Following the 6-0 victory over Balestier Khalsa FC last Saturday at Jurong East Stadium, Albirex put in another convincing 5-0 win over the Young Lions at Jalan Besar Stadium this evening.
Striker Kodai Tanaka kept up his goalscoring exploits by scoring 2 goals in the first half, in addition to his 4 headers last week. Tanaka has now scored 6 goals in the 2 games he started.
In the 2nd half, the Young Lions tried to make a come back. They had a chance in the 53rd minute when GK Koga fumbled a catch from a corner and clambered into a Young Lions attacker. The referee pointed to the penalty spot immediately.
However, Young Lions captain, Jacob Mahler, who was usually reliable for penalty duty, inexplicably did a "Kepa" and blasted his shot over the bar. A belated birthday gift for Koga, who heaved a huge sigh of relief from his mistake.
There was no notable action until the 80th minute when left winger Masahiro Sugita was put through by star striker Lee Tadanari and Sugita put the ball into the net. However, Sugita was flagged offside.

Man of the Match, Kobayashi Kan, who ran the midfield for the White Swans, calmly slotted in the penalty when Sugita was felled in the box in additional time.
