Report2022/3/6
Striker Kodai Tanaka, making his first start of the season, scored 4 headers for Albirex in a 6 nil demolition of Balestier Khalsa this evening at Jurong East Stadium.

Lightning warning at the scheduled kickoff at 5.30pm delayed the start of the game by 45 minutes to 6.15pm. Both teams started strongly with star striker Lee Tadanari hitting the post while ex-White Swan Kuraba Kondo also struck the upright.

Mid-way through the first half at the 33rd minute, playmaker Kan Kobayashi swung in a cross to a lurking Tanaka who diverted a stooping header beyond the reach of the Tigers' custodian. 1 nil, the White Swans brought this slim lead into half time.

If anyone in the stadium thought that the second half would be a tight affair just like the first, they would be very wrong. The White Swans scorched the Tigers with 5 goals In a 15 minute blitz between the 54th to 68th minute. Tanaka scored another 3 headers, captain Jun Kobayashi rose high to head home his first goal of the season, and Lee scored a tap-in after good work by Tanaka.

The 6-goal victory brought much cheer to the White Swans and its supporters who had suffered 2 losses before this evening.

Albirex will travel to Jalan Besar Stadium next Saturday 12 March to face the Young Lions. Kickoff is 5.30pm.
