2019 Singapore Cup Group B 1st Leg vs Hougang United FC "Opening Defeat In Cup Title Defence"
The White Swans fell to 1-2 defeat due to a last minute penalty by National Team Star, Faris Ramli, of Hougang United.
Hougang Centre Back Kong Ho Won headed in a corner in the 29th minute to give the Cheetahs the lead.
However, the White Swans struck back immediately through right winger Daizo Horikoshi to level the score.
As the game seemingly flowed towards a stalemate, Faris Ramli earned a penalty in the dying minutes and duly converted it to hand Hougang the initiative in Group B.
The other Group B game saw DPMM equalised in the last minute through top scorer Andrei Varankou to force a 1-1 draw with Geylang International.
The White Swans will next play Home Utd for the last league game of the season this Sunday, 29 Sep at Jurong East Stadium.
The White Swans has been confirmed at 4th place for the season and the result this Sunday will not alter the position.
