2019 SPL 12th Leg vs Balestier Khalsa FC "Yamazaki's Super Goal Inspires Come-Back Win"
Centre Back Kaishu Yamazaki scored a Goal of the Year Contender to inspire the White Swans to a 1-3 come-back win against the Balestier Khalsa Tigers.
The White Swans fell behind in the 2nd minute of the game when Balestier took advantage of a one-man short Albirex defence to score through their big Croatian striker, Sime Zuzul. Yamazaki had to go out of the playing field to treat his bleeding nose after he collided with another Balestier player.
The early set back galvanised the team as the White Swans piled forward in search of the equaliser. However, they were guilty of profligacy in front of the goal. At least 5 good chances were spurned by Hiroyoshi Kamata (twice), Zamani, Akid and Nakagawa.
The first half ended with the White Swans trailing to the solitary goal.
Albirex continued their dominance in the second half but they could not find a way past a resolute Balestier defence. It was not until the 75th minute when Yamazaki pounced on a loose rebound and unleashed a ferocious volley which nearly bulged the Tiger's net. This was Yamazaki's first goal for the Club and what a goal it was!
The White Swans were relieved to score the equaliser but it was not time to rest on their laurels. 2 minutes later, Noor Akid scored his first goal for the White Swans as he struck a fierce shot to the top right hand corner to leave the Tiger's custodian with no chance.
The tables were turned and the Tigers had to move men forward to find their own equaliser with 13 minutes remaining.
In injury time, Nakagawa exploited the space left by the Tiger's defence to kill off the match with a well taken goal. He was the third Albirex player of the night to score their first goal for the Club.
The victory brought Albirex to within 3 points of leaders Brunei DPMM FC. DPMM will play Tampines Rovers at Tampines Hub this Saturday. The result will be keenly watched by all Albirex supporters.
