2019 SPL 1st Leg “Narrow Defeat at Season Opener”

Albirex lost 1 nil in the season opener to Geylang International at Our Tampines Hub this evening.

After a drab goalless first half, Albirex attacked more aggressively in the second half.

However, Lady Luck deserted the White Swans as they hit the upright twice, and FW Horikoshi had his shot cleared off the goalline by Geylang defender Jufri Taha.

Former Albirex centre back Yuki Ichikawa grabbed the late winner with a header from a corner, as the White Swans could not come up with an answer in the 90 minutes ensuing.
