RHB Singapore Cup Quarter Finals 1st Leg "White Swans Take Slim 1 Nil Lead in Tense 1st Leg"
In a tight affair, the White Swans gladly took a slim 1 nil lead into the 2nd Leg of the RHB Singapore Cup Quarter Finals which will be played this Saturday at Jurong East Stadium.
Kenya Takahashi proved to be the scourge of Hougang Utd again as he scored the winning free kick in the 2nd half. Kenya has scored a similar free kick against the same opponent in a league game earlier this season.
The White Swans had a goal chalked off for offside in the first half when Jumbo Hoshino pounced on a defensive error and rounded the goalkeeper to put the ball into the net. The Assistant Referee inexplicably flagged Hoshino for offside.
Substitute Yamanaka also had a legitimate case for a penalty call late in the game when he was pulled down in the penalty area. However, the referee waved away the incident.
Nevertheless, the White Swans will be happy to take home a one goal lead in a difficult away ground. The 2nd leg eagerly awaits this Saturday.
