【Match Report】SPL 6th Leg "Stags Stop White Swans' Unbeaten Run"
The White Swans 5 match unbeaten run came to a halt this evening at Our Tampines Hub. Lightning delayed the kickoff until 6.50pm, but it could not stop the fast and furious actions on the pitch.
Both sides were evenly matched in the first half. Tampines took the lead at the 20th minute when right back Syahrul Sazali exchanged a one-two pass with their star player, Jordan Webb, and took a well hit shot onto the underside of the bar.
The White Swans suffered a heavy blow in the 30th minute when talisman Reo Nishiguchi had to be replaced by Ryoya Taniguchi due to an ankle injury.
The White Swans went on the attack in the 2nd half but they could not find the breakthrough. On the 56th minute, Captain Hashioka was adjudged to have handled the ball in his own box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot immediately. Jordan Webb duly converted the penalty. 2 nil to Tampines.
Winger Ryosuke Nagasawa had a penalty appeal waved away by the referee while Centreback Rio Sakuma fluffed his header at a corner. The Stags defender also had several goal line clearances as the White Swans huffed and puffed for a goal to close the gap.
However the gap proved insurmountable and the White Swans suffered its first loss of the season.
