2019 SPL 22nd Leg vs Young Lions "Back to Winning Ways"
The White Swans returned to winning ways this evening with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Young Lions.
However, the White Swans fell behind to an early goal. Ilhan Fandi scored a spectacular left foot beauty in the third minute with his first professional start.
The White Swans started to take control of the match after the goal. However, the players huff and puff with no final product until the end of the first half. Captain Kyoga Nakamura floated in a free kick from the left wing and Centreback Kaishu Yamazaki, headed in to equalise in the 44th minute.
In the second half, the White Swans continued to attack in search of the winner. Strikers Hiroyoshi Kamata and Zamani Zamri missed good chances for the lead. In the 54th minute, from a corner kick, Yamazaki pounced on a loose rebound and sent a pile driver into the net to give the White Swans the lead.
3 minutes later, Man of the Match, Yamazaki sent in a long cross field ball to Ohara, who got onto the ball with his head before the Young Lions keeper, Zharfan Rohaizad. The White Swans lead 3-1.
In the 78th minute, 18-year old midfielder, Daichi Tanabe, provided a defence splitting pass to the path of striker Yoshikatsu Hiraga, who then cross to right winger Daizo Horikoshi. Horikoshi had his first shot saved but the rebound bounced back onto him and trickled into the net.
The game finished 4-1 and finally broke a sequence of 7 games without a win.
The White Swans will not have much rest after this game. They will next face Balestier Khalsa at Jurong East Stadium this Wednesday, 18 Sep, at 7.45pm.
