2019 SPL 7th Leg vs Hougang United FC "Cheetahs defeat White Swans 4-2"
In the 2nd of a 3-game series over 6 days, the White Swans fell to a 4-2 defeat in the hands of Hougang Utd.
National team winger Faris Ramli was the scourge of the White Swans as he converted 2 crosses to give the Cheetahs a 2 nil lead at half time.
As the White Swans pushed up in search of an equaliser in the 2nd half, Hougang's Anumanthan found space with only GK Kengo Fukudome to beat. He hit the upright but an onrushing Hougang attacker, Nikesh Singh followed up to give Hougang a 3 nil lead.
The White Swans almost hit back immediately but Kamata's goal was ruled offside. However, the White Swans did not give up and winger Daizo Horikoshi pounced on Zulfadmi Ariffin's error to pull a goal back.
Spaces will left behind again as the White Swans poured forward for another goal. This time in a 3 attacker vs 1 defender counter attacking situation, Stipe Plazibat released Shafiq Ghani who made no mistake to give the Cheetahs a 3-goal cushion again.
Deep into injury time, Hiraga scored a consolation goal when he headed in a corner kick. It was too little too late.
The White Swans would not have much time to dwell on this defeat as they welcome Home Utd to Jurong East Stadium this Saturday. The White Swans would seek revenge over the penalty loss to Home Utd in the Community Shield earlier this season.
