2019 SPL 6th Leg vs Young Lions "Last-Gasp Winner Again!"
The White Swans beat the Young Lions in dramatic fashion when forward No. 9 Hiroyoshi Kamata pounced on a loose ball and Young Lions custodian Kenji Rusyadi fumbled into his own net at the 96th minute. It was the last kick of the game and was the 2nd time in 3 matches that the White Swans won in similar last-gasp situation.
Centreback Naruki Takahashi gave the White Swans an early lead when he headed in a corner in the 14th minute. The White Swans had several chances to extend the lead but were profligate in goal.
At the 32nd minute, GK Kengo Fukudome came charging out to clear a corner and floored a Young Lions player in the process. He was judged to have fouled the player and a penalty was awarded to the Young Lions. From the resulting penalty, forward Haiqal Paisha duly sent Kengo the wrong direction to level the score.
The game was delayed at half time for almost an hour due to lightning.
The White Swans though, came out more aggressively after the delayed restart to look for a winner. However, the shooting remained wayward and Kenji Rusyadi made a couple of good saves to thwart the White Swans.
Just as everyone in the stands thought that all was lost for Albirex, the White Swans had other ideas and Hiroyoshi Kamata popped up with the winner at the death to break the Young Lions' hearts.
With the win, Albirex moved up one space to 4th place to level with Tampines Rovers at 11 points.
