2019 SPL 3rd Leg vs Tampines Rovers FC "Stalemate at Tampines Hub"
In what was the White Swan's best performance to date, Albirex held table topper Tampines Rovers to a goalless draw at Tampines Hub. It means Tampines dropped points for the first time this season after chalking up 3 wins for the first 3 games, scoring 11 goals in the process.
Albirex played 5 at the back to cut out the threats of both Tampines flanks of Jordan Webb and Ryutaro Megumi. Captain Kyoga Nakamura put in a man-of-the-match performance, pulling the strings at the defensive midfield position.
Both teams had chances to score in the game but were thwarted by the defensive walls or by profligate shooting.
The scoreless result brought the White Swans goal drought to 4 official games. However, the fans will take heart that no goals have been conceded from open play so far, bar one conceded from corner kick against Geylang International.
The team has a great base to work on from its defensive solidity. Now the training ground focus will be to improve the precision and accuracy of the White Swans' attacking play.
