Albirex needed only one point to confirm the S.League Title and the White Swans delivered all three with a 5-1 demolition of Warriors FC.
Leading the charge was top scorer, Tsubasa Sano, who scored 4 goals in the 5 goal rout of Warriors FC. Warriors FC were expected to give Albirex a stern test. They were unlucky to lose the TNP League Cup Final to a Tsubasa goal in extra time at Jalan Besar Stadium in July; and the league game immediately after this final 1-2 to an injury time Inaba goal at Choa Chu Kang Stadium.
Sano proved to be the scourge of Warriors again as he demolished their defence with his speed and power throughout the match. As early as the 13th minute, he broke the Warriors offside trap and GK Hyrulnizam brought him down in a 1 to 1 duel. Sano duly stepped up to convert the penalty he earned.
2 minutes later, the White Swans scored a beauty with impeccable teamwork. Yamanouchi made a through pass down the middle, and Nakai dummied the pass to left back Tanaka. Tanaka laid on the ball to Kamata who struck a fierce left footer which Hyrulnizam could only parry to Sano. Sano was left with the easy task of tapping the ball into the empty net.
At the 20th minute, the game was almost over when Kamata made it 3 nil. Warriors got a penalty towards the end of the first period when Jordan Webb won a penalty from Menda's reckless challenge. Shahril Ishak slotted the penalty past Nozawa coolly to give the Warriors a glimmer of hope at half time.
The White Swans tightened up the defence in the 2nd half and was contented to soak up pressure from Warriors. Albirex counter attack was swift with Sano's darting runs, deft control and upper body strength to hold up the ball. Sano was a man on fire as he scored Albirex's next 2 goal. His 4 goals tonight hauled him to within 1 goal difference from the League top goal scorer, Stipe Plazibat, in the challenge to be the golden boot for the league.
Sano received the Man of the Match Award tonight but he will be itching for more goals in the last league game against Geylang International in 2 weeks' time.
The White Swans will also be itching for another trophy and clean sweep when they face Global Cebu FC on 25 November.
